Karen Frantz is a graduate student in public policy journalism at American University in Washington, DC. Having graduated from the University of Virginia in 2003 with a degree in psychology, Karen has since worked in various fields, including documentary and television production and advocacy work. As a production assistant for New River Media, she worked on several public policy television series and documentaries on various topics for PBS, Fox News and Animal Planet. She has also worked as a communications and policy director at a the American Humanist Association, a nonprofit that advocates for separation of church and state issues, and is a regular contributor to their magazine, the Humanist.
