What's good design got to do with it?

Here's a rare example of when a well-made chart is not necessary to get a point across.  I'll admit that I actually clicked on the link thinking that there were other situations in which pirates were killed by presidents that I didn't know about.

Wings across...D.C.?

I originally thought I would have to make this a “Dear Internet” post but I just decided that I’m not even that embarrassed to admit this, so screw it, here goes:

I love Wings.

The band, that is.

What's a burrito got to do with it?

It's a well-known fact among most of my friends and colleagues that I am a lover of Mexican food. I’m not sure how this fascination started – all I know is that if there’s ever a question of where or what to eat, I always advocate for a place that serves a mean burrito (a tactic that surely gets old, just ask my friends).

Blogs, Omnibus Style

Dear Internet,
I'm going to be honest: I'm having a terrible time keeping up with writing a blog and it's not the first time. If I wasn't so embarrassed, I'd show you links to past blogs that I started at various points throughout college but was never successful in updating.

I had good intentions at the beginning of the semester, I even started a Firefox bookmark tab called "Blog Fodder," (come on, it's clever!) and there are currently 15-20 links sitting in the folder, waiting for me to add witty commentary.

Headlines make all the difference

So we all know the news: Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United States. As a former copy editor, I always cringe a little bit when I see all capital letters, but if there's ever a time to use them, now is it. How are major media outlets calling it? Here's a sample of headlines:

The Washington Post
"Obama Sweeps to Victory"

The New York Times
"OBAMA: Racial Barrier Falls in Heavy Turnout"

CNN
"MCCAIN CONGRATULATES OBAMA"

And the winner is...Spike Lee!

So far, the winner of the election is...wait for it ... drumroll ... the hologram on CNN?

I've seen more blog posts, tweets and real live people be excited about the hologram than anything else so far this evening.

Who you gonna call?

Finally got online at the Post after two hours of staring around in wonder and proofing a few pages for tomorrow's first edition. The news room is the definition of busy as people run around figuring out layouts and content.
